CLIMATE CHANGE THEATRE ACTION
Location
Saint Mary's College of California; UC Berkeley
Date
December 2021; May 2022; October 2023
Role
Director / producer
Climate Change Theatre Action is a global series of readings and performances timed to coincide with the UN's COP climate conferences. I produced and directed outdoor CCTA events on Saint Mary's College's Dante Quad in 2021 and 2022 and on UC Berkeley's Dwinelle Plaza in 2023.
Highlights of the shows included a "climate commedia" sketch, featuring Jeff Bezos as a space cowboy supervillain, and a takeover of the proceedings by a squad of earth-destroying automatons. And, of course, the grand finale: the arrival of the giant bird puppet, loaned to us by Bay Area artist-activist David Solnit. Life comes to the rescue of life.
